My Review

We still have to wait about a year for the last book to come out but I wanted to talk about the ones that are already available. This series is filled with magic, adventure, Greek Gods, humour, romance, battles it caters to pretty much everyone who enjoys this type of books. And it’s so very good.

It is quite a journey, not only literally since that’s the setting in A Promise of Fire a sort of cross realms journey but also in character growth and relationship development.

Kat is sassy, snarky, strong and yet vulnerable. I really enjoyed seeing her grow through out the story, learning to trust Griffin and the Beta team in spite of the rocky beginning (the kidnapping thing), becoming more confident in herself and her power.

“Have I cheated death again? Hades must be allergic to me.”

Griffin is such and endearing Alpha male, he wants to set things right for his people, he has so much drive and ambition but not for himself at all but for everyone he cares about.

Their relationship it’s exactly the type I really love reading about, they start as enemies of sorts and as we go along they learn to respect each other, they become allies and friends, and eventually something more. They have a great humorous rapport with each other and it doesn’t get lost when the romance finally develops.

“Well, would Your Logicalness care to take me to breakfast and tell me about his plans?”
… “Would your Nakedness care to get dressed first?”

The Beta team, (Griffin’s friends and soldiers) are one my favorite group of side characters, they are much more than a comedic relief to the story, they bring balance to both of our main characters.

As for setting and plot well it’s a fantasy world that involves Greek Gods, magic and none magic people, evil rulers and the like. I did find the God’s interventions a bit repetitive and convenient but there’s so much action happening that you can easily overlook this. Besides if it’s a story with Gods it’s going to be over the top.

I love the fight scenes in both books, they are so easy to picture in your head, (some of them creepily so, one spidery scene comes to mind, uughh! if you’ve read the books you’ll know what I mean) The battles reminded me of Xena Warrior Princess sometimes and I love that there’s so much action in the story. (more so in the first book, though)

If you like fantasy with loads of action, humour and romance then I urge you to give this series a try. I can’t wait to read the last book coming out next year, a long wait but a worthy one for sure.

As Always

Happy Reading

Michelle
