This Is My Genre Book Tag (Romance Edition)

Where I found the tag? On Beth’s @ readingeverynight This my second edition on this tag (My first was FANTASY) I’m talking about Romance here..which is my favorite genre  (or one of the two) .. I know a lot of people have mixed feelings about this genre, there are certainly a lot of misses in the romance book world but there are also quite a few great books…I love it and I’m not ashamed to say it…so, bear with me in this second book tag edition.

I’m not going to explain in detail again the whys and what nots of doing the same tag twice, if you really want to know (click here) if not just keep going, check out the answers and ignore the craziness that is permeating this post..

Answer the questions.
Tag as many people as you want.

What’s your favourite genre?

For the sake of this second Edition my Favorite genre is Romance, I’ve read romance since I can remember (and was the right age to do so..most of the time.. ) and I’m a sucker for a good love story…I actually enjoy more, other genres that aren’t my go to ones when they have a little well balanced romance mixed in them…

Who is your favourite author from the genre?

Hard to say, there are a lot…Top 5 maybe

  • Penelope Douglas
  • Mia Sheridan
  • Colleen Hoover
  • Linda Kage
  • Elle Kennedy

I’m sticking to my Contemporary ones, their books are heavily based on the romance so I think they work perfectly.

What is it about the genre that keeps you pulling back?

The Feels, I love a good romance that manages to make you feel the chemistry in the beginning, all the passion, the fun, the heart break, the complications, all the spectrum of human emotion… It’s thrilling which is why I find myself often disappointed when the stories are just merely bland.

What’s the book that started your love for your favourite genre?

Jane Austen Pride and Prejudice and William Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew.

you've got mail

If you had to recommend at least one book from your favourite genre to a non-reader/someone looking to start reading the genre, what would you choose and why?

I don’t really recommend Romance books to anyone unless I know that they love the genre like I do.. It bugged me when I used to do it and what I got back was a …”but that book is a silly love story!!” I hate this reaction…UUggghhh!!!

kissing book

So, I stopped, well until recently here on the blog but this is a totally different thing… I guess I would follow the same pattern I use with fantasy books, I’ll find out what appeals to that person and base my recommendation on that…

Why do you read?

I already answer this on my first edition but I found a giff that fits perfectly with my answer.. What better than to get lost in them.

  1. Again great answers for this tag, I love how you did a second edition for your other favourite genre because why not right? 🙂
Romance isn’t a genre I pick up so I can’t say I’ve read any of the books/authors you’ve featured, but I enjoyed reading your answers all the same. 🙂
