Top Favorite Vampire Books

Vampires have always been (and probably will be) my favorite supernatural creature/monster (It’s a tie between Fae and Dragons but since it’s October and Halloween, let’s focus on Vampires). I find them fascinating, they can easily go from being sparkling and silly to incredibly sexy and end up downright terrifying.

You can find Drama, Romance, Action, Horror, every little thing your heart desire on a Vampire book…(You do need to find the right one of course, just like with so many others, you just need to pick what you’re in the mood for)

I have read a ton of books about Vampires, going from the classics (Bram Stoker’s Dracula) to graphic novels ( American Vampire) to lots of Paranormal Romances (you name it I probably have read them)

With this experience in tow, I decided to give you guys a list of some of my favorite Vampire Books…Hope you find a fun Halloween read among them..

  • Salem’s Lot – Stephen King

Thousands of miles away from the small township of ‘Salem’s Lot, two terrified people, a man and a boy, still share the secrets of those clapboard houses and tree-lined streets. They must return to ‘Salem’s Lot for a final confrontation with the unspeakable evil that lives on in the town.

  • Let me In – John Ajvide Lindqvist, Ebba Sergerberg

Set in 1981, Let Me In is the horrific tale of Oskar and Eli. It begins with the grisly discovery of the body of a teenage boy, emptied of blood. Twelve-year-old Oskar is personally hoping that revenge has come at long last — revenge for all the bad things the bullies at school do to him, day after day. While Oskar is fascinated by the murder, it is not the most important thing in his life. A new girl has moved in next door—a girl who has never seen a Rubik’s cube before, but who can solve it at once. They become friends. Then something more. But there is something wrong with her, something odd. And she only comes out at night. . .

  • They Thirst – Robert McCammon

It looked like another ordinary day in Los Angeles
Then night came….
Evil as old as the centuries has descended upon the City of Angels—it comes as a kiss from the terrifying but seductive immortals. Slowly at first, then by the legions, the ravenous undead choke Los Angeles with bloodthirsty determination—and the hordes of monstrous victims steadily mount each night.

High above glitter city a deadly contest begins. In the decaying castle of a long-dead screen idol, the few remaining human survivors prepare to face the Prince of Evil and his satanic disciples. Whilst the very forces of nature are called into play, isolating the city from the rest of the world and leaving it at the mercy of the blood-hungry vultures of the night….

Theirs is a lust that can never be satisfied…

Graphic Novels

If you enjoy comics and Graphic novels, the art, the stories, these two will certainly take a bite out of you 😜😜

  • 30 Days of Night – Steve Niles, Ben Templesmith

In a sleepy, secluded Alaska town called Barrow, the sun sets and doesn’t rise for over thirty consecutive days and nights. From the darkness, across the frozen wasteland, an evil will come that will bring the residents of Barrow to their knees. The only hope for the town is the Sheriff and Deputy, husband and wife who are torn between their own survival and saving the town they love

  • American Vampire – Scott Snyder, Stephen King , Rafael Albuquerque

From writers Scott Snyder and Stephen King, American Vampireintroduces a new strain of vampire – a more vicious species – and traces the creatures’ bloodline through decades of American history.

Snyder’s tale follows Pearl, a young woman living in 1920s Los Angeles, who is brutally turned into a vampire and sets out on a path of righteous revenge against the European monsters who tortured and abused her. And in King’s story set in the days of America’s Wild West, readers learn the origin of Skinner Sweet, the original American vampire – a stronger, faster creature than any vampire ever seen before.

Don’t miss out as Snyder and King set fire to the horror genre with this visionary, all-original take on one of the most popular monster stories!

  1. I loved Carmilla, I’m a sucker for the Southern Vampire Mysteries, and I really liked the vampires in the Dresden Files. For YA, The Coldest Girl in Coldtown was really good imo, and I liked the Morganville Vampires books.

This is a great list of books, and I’m adding American Vampire and They Thirst to my TBR 🙂

  2. I love Vampire Academy. It’s one of my fave series. I didn’t mind the first few Southern Vampire Mysteries but they got silly after a while. Salem’s Lot was pretty good, but then again Stephen King is amazing. I definitely have to give Halfway to the Grave and Let me In a go. Adding them to the TBR stat!
