August 2019 Few Books and lots of K-Drama Wrap Up

This August has been a mess reading wise for me… first I was sucked into the worst reading slump and I literally didn’t touch a book for the first 2 weeks of the month — it was so painful — I felt like I was missing a limb or something (sorry for the dramatics) but it really feels like that when you are so used to reading a little every day…

On the upside I was able to enjoy quite a few K-dramas and Animes that I had meant to watch (Maybe that just fed my reading slump but whatever.) I was hooked.

For those who might be curious about what I saw…

Asian Drama

Some are a little old but I hadn’t seen them yet and some I’m still watching. Let me know in the comments if you would like me to go into details about some of these shows…

  • Warrior Baek Dong Su
  • Coffee and Vanilla
  • The King’s Avatar
  • Black
  • Innocent Man
  • Love Better than Immortality

I was catching up to some “classic” animes that I hadn’t seen and also watching some ongoing ones…

  • Arifureta Shokugyou de Sekai Saikyou
  • Death Note
  • Tokyo Ghoul √A
  • Kochouki: Wakaki Nobunaga
  • Given

I’m literally just dumping all my challenges here… Romanceopoly, The A to Z Reading Challenge and The ultimate Reading challenge because I was a huge failure with all of them…

For Romanceopoly I just finished 1 book

  • Deadlock by Cherrie Lyn — 3.5 Stars — It was a good romantic suspense with the hacker twist.

As for the others I didn’t read anything… Well, as I’m writing this (August 30th) I’m about to begin It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover so maybe I’ll count that one for The ultimate reading challenge and for the Tear-jerker on Romanceopoly… fingers crossed.

The A to Z reading Challenge… I’m just giving up altogether, I’m way behind and won’t be able to catch up… so I might as well admit defeat…

Books Actually Read

The final 2 weeks of august were the ones when my reading picked up but I was in such a weird mood that my TBR went out the window and didn’t come back… I did read a lot thanks to a post I’m working on about Bully romances and because of the 72 hours E-Bookathon I came up with, so there’s a silver lining on this messy reading month…

  • Given (Manga) — 5 Stars — This brought back my desire to read, I devoured all the volumes I could get my hands on and I love the story.. It’s such a cute M/M romance intertwined with music… That’s why I started watching the Anime adaptation, and I love it…
  • Savaged by Mia Sheridan — 3.5 Stars — I always enjoy how unconventional Mia Sheridan’s stories are… and this was no exception but it was a little hard to believe at times and the ending was too open for my taste…
  • Somewhere we Only Know – Maurene Goo — 3 stars — Cute little romance, even if it felt insta lovey..
  • The Queen’s Advantage by Jessie Mihalik — 4 Stars — I hate that these books are so short… why?? I need more of these characters and the political intrigue and the space action…
  • Break me Baby by Belladona Cunning — 2.5 Stars — One of the bully romances I read for the post I’m working on… And it was hard to read in the beginning, I can’t really tell you why but then the cliffhanger jumps at you and you get a bit curious about what’s going to happen next… if I remember about it when the next one comes out.
  • The Help by Callie Rose – 3 Stars – bully romance that was slightly better than the previous one in terms of plot… we have a murder here and everything…
  • Rich Boys, Poor Girl by Mia Belle – 3 stars – This one was silly but adorable… one of those train wrecks you can’t look away from… what I did found refreshing was that the parents of the girl were good parents… I know quite a shocker.
  • Tempest by Rachel Angel – 2 stars – This book was just an excuse for a foursome…

That’s pretty much it… I’m still working on reading It ends with Us (as I said before) and also The Evil Queen by Gena Showalter and The Innitiation by Nikki Sloan but I don’t know what I’ll be able to finish so it’s not fair to count them as well…

So, I just read 9 books this month… not so bad to be honest but it was a rough beginning and I was hoping to read more since I was free from work… It is what it is.. How was your August reading, let me know in the comments below… and if you have read any of these books share your thoughts as well..

As Always

Happy Reading

  1. Yes could you please go in depth about the Korean dramas you watched I love these dramas and I’m always looking for more even though my list to watch is probably over 50.

  2. I hope you get out of your reading slump in September! I’ve been fortunate not to have fallen into one this year, but I think that’s because I’ve started taking on more review books, added more genre variety, and have been reading more than one book at a time.

  3. Sorry your reading month didn’t start off too well, but I’m glad it picked up! Curious what you thought about Death Note. I read the manga, but only watched a bit of the anime (not because it was bad, but just because I felt like it was SO similar that I wasn’t enjoying it that much—maybe someday I’ll watch it).
