Hello fellow Bookworms, I apologize in advance if I sound agressive on this post but Im annoyed, and I’m usually a pretty go with The flow Kind of person and try to not get Riled up by petty things nor create unnecessary conflict on My blog…  this is a safe havenEven If there are a few rantings here and there, I mostly want to entertain you guys and share my love of books with everyone, also give a hand to new Authors and recommend good books to everyone

But sometimes, theres that little Thorn on your side that you cannot shake… This is one of those times. It may be because I’m overly sensitive but GOD! WhyWhy do We Feel The need tocanceleverything nowadays?

From books, to Movies, TV shows, characters and Even people? Seriously? When did We become so self-righteous? Are We really that virtuous to judge everything? Heres the answer to that questionWe are not.. We are just peopleWith as many flaws as everyone else..

I understand and agree with The necessity of change when It comes to representation, minority rights, fair dealing, raising awareness.. And Im totally up For It.. If something (Movie, book, comic) that was done decades ago has a flawed representation, there should be a warning and an explanationunderstandably, times were different back then, and beliefs and social notions have changed.. But Its part of history.. And history is there so we can learn from ItWe learn from The mistakes we make in order not to repeat them

But How can We learn anything If all We do is wipe The slate clean?

What happens when those waving The Cancellation flag arent The ones directly affected? You are supposedly defending cultures, beliefs based only on your own notions of what It is offensive to someone elseBut this doesnt mean everyone shares those same notionsSo our judgement is biasedAnd thats whenCancellation ” can become a weapon, you might just want to “cancel” whatever you want for the most ridiculous reasons..

And social media has just been making this situation worse..

We need to be aware of context, of historical changes, of diversity of thoughts in order to decide ourselves how we chose to improve as human beings and not just hit Delete button on all that makes us uncomfortable. We need to learn what we did wrong, process it and deal with the issue not just erase everything… That’s just this bookish nerd humble opinion at least.

How do you Feel About Cancellation culture? Does it bother you or do you defend it? Let me know all about it in the comments below…Don’t forget that if you want to help me keep on creating content and making you at least smile a bit with my quirky posts and ranty opinions just  visit my Ko-fi page or and support my work..
