Escaping the New Release Frenzy

IMG_6015

Hey everyone! It’s hard to believe that we are so close to the end of 2021, in an overall view (because what else can we do but self reflect, right?) this year has been one hell of a bumpy ride on all levels for me… I guess I’m not alone on this front, right?

On the bookish spectrum which is why we gather here… one detail has me reflecting on how I should tackle my reading on for 2022. I have hardly read any New Hyped up releases this past year.. Which has been good for my budget but not so great for my Blogging topics (kind of).

I have read so much more than I thought I would be able to, in fact I have crossed out my Goodreads goal in spades.. mostly with backlist books and new books that I was approached by for reviews.. And I’m satisfied with this outcome.

I have found so many new authors that I will be looking out for, and I finally feel like I’m making progress with the ginormous list of books that I want to eventually read — I’m reading them now … Yay.. Me! It’s so fulfilling… and the new releases I have read are ones that I truly wanted to read asap… and not just going with the frenzy… I guess you could say that this past year has forced me to be more nitpicking with my reading in a way.

However, being so disconnected has it downfall as well.. When we do book blogging knowing what’s trending it’s a must (sort of) because it helps to connect with a broader audience.. if that’s something we strive to.

It’s not a deal breaker by any means but it does help to keep yourself informed when bookish topics arise — particularly today when anything can spark a controversy and a debating point… and not feel like the odd one out, which happened to me on more than one occasion this past year..

But Honestly? I kind of like this disconnection better… I get to really focus on what I truly want to read ( it’s not like I don’t have my few anticipated releases ) and I feel so stress free… Plus I can give you guys different options for recommendations and challenge myself to keep my posts as fresh and interesting as I can even without the hyped up books..

Will it be a little harder? probably, but it’s always fun to feel accomplished on several fronts.. even while running away from the masses… lol…
